well here I am...

Well this is my second stab at the "blogging thing". My other page is at Wedding bells but that is more just about the wedding...this will be more of a rant about my daily life and times.

First of all I am getting married to the best man in the world Andrew on May the fourth 2007. In case you haven't figures it out yet I am a StarWars geek! We picked this date however because we started dating on May the fourth 2002 so it will be our 5th year anniversary...well we had a little hiccup in the middle but...well you get the point!

Here is the background just in case you are just tuning in...

Andrew and I met shortly after I moved to Ottawa from Toronto at Tuesday night darts at our local pub in September 2001. He remembers everything about what I was wearing, my hair and my smile....I however don't quite have the same recollection.

I wasn't a member of the league, a friend told me to come out as they always need a spare and I would meet some new people, and so most Tuesday's there I was, and so was he.
Gradually we conversed and I discovered he gave the most amazing shoulder massages!! And while he gave them we would have some very serious talks about life, politics and religion. He was a fascinating person with very different views on life then myself. I also found out he was a Maritimer and grew up in N.B, N.S and P.E.I. I admit at this time I was hooked!
We started dating May the fourth 2002...I am a huge Star Wars fan and this was the funniest thing!

A few months later we went to his friends wedding and I declared to his brother that I was going to marry him one day! I was utterly convinced that this was the guy for me.
We broke up a few times during our courtship and hit some VERY difficult patches and finally in January 2004 we broke up.

I took it very hard and so much so that I moved back to Toronto so that I wouldn't accidentally run into him, we had many of the same friends, went to the same church and lived a block and a forest apart.

A year went by and he tried to make contact by email, first for Christmas and then for my birthday and I was afraid of getting hurt again. Then a personal tragedy bid me to call him for re-assurance and we begin to be friends again.

In July 2005 I visited him in Ottawa and we decided to start dating again, long distance and see where it goes...

In June 2006 his roommate was moving in with his long time girlfriend and I said that the long distance thing was starting to wear a bit thin and that we either needed to do something permanent. I suggested that me and my two children from my first marriage move in with him.

He said "you can't move in with me"
I was heartbroken AGAIN!

"unless you agree to marry me"

did I hear him right? So I said " I have never been asked"

And he responded with the line that will be forever associated with him "so uh....do ya wanna?"

If you knew Andrew the way that I know him this was the perfect Andrew proposal. I however at the time was shocked, not really believing this was really happening...I think that first weekend I was a basket case, laughing and crying and mostly overjoyed.

It is 6 months later and I can still hardly believe it!

The wedding itself will be at our local parish Annunciation of the Lord Roman Catholic church and officiated by our former pastor Fr Richard Siok.

Following the ceremony we will be having a "Mad Hatters tea party" on the grounds of the oldest frame structure in Ottawa the Billings estate http://www.friendsofbillingsestatemuseum.org/ from 1-5.

Hats and gloves are strongly recommended and there will be games and prizes and lots of fun! It is a "Mad Hatters Tea Party" after all we will have lots of fun!
